The David Wilson library: the existing library at the University of leicester
The David Wilson Library, Leicester This is the library that is currently functioning at the University of Leicester. To be frank, It is not old at all, According to Associated Architects (2023) the project was completed in 2008 with a total value of 25 million pounds. I can see the beauty of this project since it is coherent with the environment around it; its design goes with the engineering building which is right next to it. (My picture, sourced from Google Earth) According to Associated Architects(2023), this library comprises 38 kilometers of shelving that allows for a 20-year expansion in the printed collections, 1,500 reader places of all kinds (including a dedicated Postgraduate Area, IT training, and group study rooms), and a student development zone with the Student Learning Centre, Careers Service, bookshop, café, 500-seat lecture theatre, seminar rooms, Accessibility Centre, and Special Collections Archive.
