Welcome

    WELCOME!

My name is Mouad, and welcome to my blog. I'm an international student from Morocco, and I'm mostly interested in architecture masterpieces. Ever since my childhood, I've always been amazed at the most beautiful Moroccan building being the Hassan II mosque in Casablanca.

Exterior of the Hassan II mosque

Firstly, this mosque displays a perfect example of the Moorish architecture. Ironically, it was designed by the famous french architect Michel Pinseau. In the process of building this masterpiece, he used various materials such as granite and mosaic used for the external floors, carved marble used on the walls giving it a majestic finish. Not to mention the beautiful inside floor made of glass mostly, displaying a see through look of the ocean since half of the mosque was built over it. Moreover, what seems particularly interesting to me is the retractable roof, apparently, it is usually opened in clear nights allowing the worshippers to pray under the stars, coupled with the big beautiful chandeliers, I can confirm that it is an out of this world experience. As if all of this wasn't appealing enough, Michel Pinseau and the engineers decided to challenge the tallest minarets ever built, this one is 210m tall and considered to be the second tallest in the world.

In addition, I would state that my second inspiration was the architect I.M. Pei's. With my favorite piece of his art being the La Pyramide du Louvre or the Louvre Pyramid.

                                                                The Louvre Pyramid

The Louvre Pyramid was designed by Ieoh Ming Pei, a world-renowned architect who also designed the John F. Kennedy Library and the East Building of the Art Gallery in Washington D.C. In 1989, the Louvre Pyramid, also known as Pyramide du Louvre, was finished.

In 1981, French President François Mitterrand announced the Grand Louvre Project, which aimed to rebuild the museum as a whole and create new facilities.

The floor space area of the Grand Louvre Project seems to be more than 92,000 sq m (99,0279.76 sq ft) big.

As a result of the Louvre Project, display space was increased, allowing easier access for visitors.

Complete transparency in the Glass Pyramid was I.M. Pei's idea. (Kidadl 2023).
What i find so fascinating about this piece is the fact that it has minimal detail, a geometric shape arguably an unnatural one, and the mixture of traditional and modern architecture that it adds to the surrounding buildings.
