Target audience/Demograhics

In addition to the other research post, it is crucial to study the demographics of the environment of the site in order to accommodate it to its people.

According to data census (n.d.), Cromwell has a population of more than 14000 individuals.

This is a chart showing the different ancestries in Cromwell, Connecticut. From what can be seen, the most dominant ancestries: Irish, Italian, Polish, German, and English all have one thing in common, they are of European origins. In fact, all of these ancestries are, except for Subsaharan Africa. Which only represents about 1.6%. Imperatively, I had to choose a design that is relevant to this Euro-American culture, which as discussed is the Gothic style. A monumental European movement.
One of the main reasons why I chose Andrea Palladio as the leading inspiration for symmetry, classicism, and ... was the fairly present Italian ancestry in Cromwell. Therefore I found a connection between the two; Gothic style in terms of decoration and structure, and Palladianism in terms of symmetry. (Explore Census Data, n.d.)

Another important point that I think should be considered is the poverty levels and employability.

From the charts above and below, we can deduce that Cromwell is not exactly a low-income area which is why I think it won't be much of an issue to make this structure a luxurious centre. From Fig 2 Families and married couples are the majority. This is why this center is going to be family-friendly.(Explore Census Data, n.d.)

Comments

  1. It is not a resort - it is a leisure centre that should be accessible for the whole community regardless of their income. Remember, this is part of the reconstruction, so not everyone will be as well off as the standard demographics show in your research. This post needs more consideration and more application to your project.
