Research Post N*2: Site analysis/ environmental analysis

The project is set in the town of New Cornwell, Connecticut, USA.

I took a screenshot from Google Earth of the area, a typical low-profile American town with great green spaces. Unfortunately, the town suffered a horrible fire that leveled it to the ground, therefore the site will only be limited by the street.

The site will only be limited by three roads; Shunpike for the west elevation, Sanford Ln for the north, and Alexander Dr for the east.

Here is a bird's view of the site, it is basically a rectangle that is 140m large (north and south elevations) and 160m long.
At first, I thought about making the north part 120m. However, that will make the arches too circular, because the distance between the columns is too long, I will discuss these decisions further in the next posts.

   Weather:

Summertime temperatures in Cromwell range from a pleasant 10-15 degrees Celsius at night to a warm 25–30 degrees Celsius during the day. I think the weather is great for making use of everything the facility has to offer, particularly the pools and other buildings. The evenings are relaxing, perfect for spending time around my building or eating. The colder nights offer an enjoyable break from the heat of the day. The mild climate throughout the day makes it pleasant to go swimming and engage in other outdoor activities without being unduly hot, which may make summer days intolerably hot in other places.(Ventusky,n.d.)

In addition, the wind rate is around 5 mph (8 km/h), which is suitable for my project's purposes. Such good wind conditions are ideal since they give off a nice, breezy atmosphere without being overly disturbing. It also means that for my project, I won't have to worry about distracting or damaging sensitive components due to excessive winds, so I can concentrate on the work at hand. Knowing that the weather will cooperate and not present any new difficulties is a comfort. (Ventusky, n.d.)

Finally, taking consideration of Cromwell's humidity, it typically ranges from 50% to 60%. Even though this degree of humidity may initially seem slightly high, it fortunately does not affect the perceived temperature or overall comfort of a person.
This range of humidity is, in my opinion, a really good state of balance It's enough to prevent the air from feeling too dry, which is good for respiratory comfort and skin health. It may be rather unpleasant, but it's not high enough to produce a thick, sticky environment. (Ventusky, n.d.)

  1. Ok, you need to complete this post, but finally something posted here. As you are aiming for a mark of 44% plus there needs to be a significant amount more engagement and evidence of your project development than you have so far. Go through your tutorial sheet from Week 6 and start work/update your blog.
