mind map: brainstorming Ideas.
Generating Ideas
In this session, we tried to brainstorm a few ideas and inspirations for our projects, and ever since, I have had many ideas that range from Roman, classical, and Palladian architecture from what I have seen, I can only conclude that the essence of this style is symmetry and geometrical shapes, onto colonial and modernist.
(My own picture.)
At first, I had a brain freeze because I did not know what to draw, but then I started sketching the structure which I consider to be modernist, that is what I think will make a good gym for a start. However, this seems too simple and too plain, which is the reason why I started thinking about the inspiration for Romans and classical architecture that I had in the holidays. That explains the sketches of the Roman dome which I find interesting because it resembles the domes that I usually saw in mosques and in Muslim architecture. In addition to pillars and arches that I think have an enormous effect on the design aside from their function.
Then, I thought about the functionality of the project and what needs to be included so I drew what was assigned to me in my brief; I am doing a leisure center that has to include a cafe, an outdoor multi-sport pitch, badminton court, a tennis court, a gym, showers and changing areas, and a pool.
In that context, I think my project will have 2 badminton courts, and 4 tennis courts because it is quite fancy, and it is well known that tennis is the sport of the rich, in addition to an Olympic pool for competitions and training along with a normal one for families and casual relaxation. Moreover, the building will include a gymnasium that will take up a big part of the project surface-wise,
I find that the picture at the top right corner is what we think of when hearing about a suburban house or typical post-independence building in the United States, especially in Connecticut that is why I chose that picture, I might get some inspiration from it, and make my building coherent with the environment around it in that sense.
The picture below would be a Roman pool which I always thought to be classy and fancy for what I find to be an imperial design, I believe that it promotes to the people a sense of comfort and privacy and at the same time openness and sunlight.
Not sure what has happened at the end of this post, but I think you need to complete it......
