research on architect

In this post, I will share some of the research I have done on one of the architects I think can inspire me to further develop my project. The architect is Ivan Antić, and here is one of his works that caught my eye.

1923 was the birth year of Ivan Antic in Belgrade. He spent 1945 to 1950 studying in Belgrade, where he received his diploma. In addition to working for the Ministry of Transportation while he was a student, he also worked for the "Jugoprojekt Office" from 1950 to 1953. It was there that he met well-known architects from the former Yugoslavia, Stanko Kliska and Vojin Simeonovic, and gained practical experience in his field. He began working on his own projects after 1957. He then enrolled in Belgrade's Architectural Faculty, first serving as an assistant and then as a full professor. Being both practical and aesthetically pleasing, his buildings are masterpieces of Serbian modern architecture, earning him the title of Member of the Academy. 2005 saw Antic's death in Belgrade. The 25 May sports centre is located by the Danube River in Belgrade, Serbia. It hosts "indoor swimming pools, a restaurant with a bowling hall, a sauna and outdoor sports grounds"(Anon, n.d.).

I intend to use this structure as a part of my research since the triangular shape shown in the first picture is quite similar to the top of my design. However, I will design it in a circular shape instead.

  1. This does have some relevance to your project, although there is too much biography here and not enough investigation of the materials or the structure of the design. For example, Antic has clearly used cantilevers in this design - where is your research into this?? Have a look at this link to start you off: https://www.designingbuildings.co.uk/wiki/Cantilever
